Al-Quds University recently held a successful training workshop on design thinking for its students as part of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Technology Professional Training courses that were developed. The workshop aimed to develop the students’ creative and critical thinking skills, helping them to generate and develop innovative ideas for their future startups.

The training workshop was conducted by experienced professionals in the field of design thinking, who provided hands-on experience to the students. The training was conducted in a participatory way, and students were provided with various tools and techniques to enhance their problem-solving and decision-making skills. The training workshop was attended by enthusiastic students who were keen to learn and improve their skills in entrepreneurship and innovation.

The workshop was designed to provide our students with practical skills and knowledge that are essential in today's world of business and entrepreneurship. Description

Principled management of the TRANSFER project is a key contributing factor for its overall success. Two management committees will be formed, project steering committee and WP leads the committee. A project management steering committee will be formed at the start of the project and it consists of the coordinator (Grant-holder), the project manager and WP leads (or coordinators) and a representative from each partner.  Its main responsibility is to ensure well coordination of the project, well-planned running of the project, adherence to EU and QA rules, financial management, project outputs and mitigating risks as they arise. The WP leads committee consists of the coordinator (Grant-holder), the project manager and WP leads. Its main responsibility is to managed day-to-day affairs of the project, to ensure well managed and planned activities, timely allocation of activities to the appropriate staff, and mitigating risks in delays.

The kick-off meeting will be the starting point for all participates to bring about a common understanding of the project aims, and objectives well defined with clear time-scales and responsibilities. WP leads will be responsible for managing activities of their individual work packages and reporting progress in regularly WP leads committee meetings. The financial administration of the project will be largely the responsibility of the Project Coordinator (USi, P1). The project coordinator, in consultation with the steering committee and EU project officer where necessary, will ensure the implementation of the Erasmus+ rules within the financial procedures of the university. Where necessary, the grand-holder and project will provide information and/or guidance to administrators at partner universities.

The work package will also include the participation of project representatives in Erasmus+ EU meetings and preparation of the project management reports.

Description

This WP will exploit the outcomes of the work developed in WP1-WP3 to implement the startup professional training program, at partner country universities. The work involves taking a systematic approach to implementing the courses by applying the new curriculum and to evaluate the developed educational and pedagogical approaches and assess their outcomes. This also involves taking the necessary due processes and obtaining necessary approvals from academic councils at partner country universities to run the program.

The nature of the project involves a wide spectrum of people from ministries, universities and the industry, which makes dissemination a natural effect. Hence, all possible target groups and stakeholders of the project (ex. students, staff, employers of students, academic administration staff and ministries of higher education) will be reached via the comprehensive dissemination techniques implemented in TRANSFER project. Results of the project and its activities will be disseminated to the target groups.

The dissemination plan will be created at the beginning of the project and will define what dissemination is and describe what exactly needs to be disseminated, the target audience, the dissemination channels and the dissemination materials that are going to be used in the project.

The strategy will also look at existing dissemination channels available such as membership publications of different organizations, newsletters, websites, meetings, workshops and conferences

Main actions aiming to disseminate the Project, will be focused on the: 

  • Development of a social media plan to use social and professional networks to make stakeholders and target groups aware of the project and its results, aiming to get them actively involved in the project.
  • Development of a project website to disseminate all project activities and news and to serve as the nexus of the social media campaign.

Production of dissemination material; leaflets, posters, etc (in digital format as can as possible with needed logos). in all forms to reach the potential students and managers of local companies to participate in the learning activity.

This work package will ensure the adherence of all project aspects and outputs to the quality assurance (QA) mechanisms. A Quality plan document that defines the QA procedures for the project will be produced and agreed upon early in the phase of the project. The QA procedures will ensure that all deliverables comply with the contract. The Plan will define in detail the requirements, protocol, best practices for the main processes, including performance of WPs, tasks, preparation and review of deliverables, organisation of meetings and workshops, and dissemination activities, of face-2-face, website, brochures, posters, presentations and social media. The plan will set templates for different types of projects outputs, and usage guidelines for project documents, and reports.

The WP leader (BZU, P5) will be responsible for the management of the quality plan, and the quality control of the deliverables before submission to the EC, by implementing an internal review process within the consortium with review responsibilities assigned to selected reviewers from this work package participating partners.

External expert will act as reviewer of the quality of the program developed in terms of learning outcome and pedagogic methods.

This work package will focus on establishing a mechanism for involving industry collaboration as an integral part of the developed curriculum. So, input and training from leading industry players in the partner countries will feed into the curriculum. One course will be developed in this WP about technology and Entrepreneurship. In addition to 3 training case studies that will be integrated to the curriculum. The developed case studies are directly related to applied skills, in which students are trained to build their startup projects. These case studies will evolve, and new ones developed as new student startup projects are produced, thus ensuring the incremental enriches of the learning process. This work package will also focus on developing an innovative partnership model to foster cooperation between universities and enterprises, establishing liaison offices in the participating PC institutions, with a role to develop linkages between industry, academic institutions, professionals, and other interested parties and business incubation experts to participate in advisory boards, conduct seminars, review curricula, and carry out joint projects.

One key objective of the project is to train and transfer knowledge from faculty from EU universities to faculty in partner country universities. The university-enterprise collaboration is an area where capacity building is of deep need from EU partner countries, where this work package will aim to achieve by increasing collaboration and training through a face-2-face workshops.

This work package aims to:

  1. Design the curriculum which includes the design of the structure of the entrepreneurship and innovation technology professional training and the selection of the courses to be offered. Then, define course objectives, and learning outcomes based on the output from WP1 and the result of a systematic review for the current standards, recommendations, and curricula.
  2. develop entrepreneurship and innovation technology professional training courses material to be taught at PC universities to help build skills in startup development. Each Palestinian university with the support of EU partners will develop three courses material including the course about Entrepreneurship and Innovation Technology that will be developed in WP3, while each Tunisian university will develop two courses. These courses will be shared with all other universities. A total of 10 courses will be developed, 3 courses will be developed as part of WP2 to formulate the program curriculum and learning content. The tentative course titles are the general modules including Design Thinking for Technology Innovation, Business Development for young Entrepreneurs, Startup Marketing, Project and innovation management, Startup funding; the specialized modules including Cloud Computing for Young Entrepreneurs, Innovation by IoT, Innovation in 3D Printing Technology, Innovation in Big Data, Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation.
    The tenth course will be part of WP3 and focus on Entrepreneurial mindset and innovation technology, this course combines knowledge and skills in new technologies with the entrepreneurship skills in idea generation, problem-solving and business development. The tentative title of the course is Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation, which will be developed as part of WP3
  3. Capacity building of PC staff through visits to the EU. PC staff will participate in 5 visits to the EU Universities that have established similar entrepreneurship and startup capability programs, to gather an understanding of how such programs were developed and their current status. EU partners will review the developed courses. LI (P4) will review the developed course about Entrepreneurship and Innovation Technology in WP3.

Al-Quds University hosted a workshop on Pitching through Storytelling for students on Feb. 27th, 2023. The event was organized as part of the entrepreneurship and innovation technology professional training courses that were developed to enhance the students’ skills in the field of entrepreneurship.

The workshop focused on training the students how to create a compelling and persuasive pitch by utilizing storytelling techniques. The facilitators of the workshop emphasized the importance of storytelling as an effective communication tool to convey a message that resonates with the audience.

During the workshop, the students were introduced to the concept of storytelling, and they were guided on how to develop a compelling story that can capture the audience’s attention. The facilitators also provided the students with practical tips on how to structure a pitch and deliver it with confidence.

The workshop was attended by over 30 students from various faculties of the university. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the workshop, and they appreciated the practical tips and tools that they acquired during the session. Al-Quds University held a workshop on Industry and Market Needs Analysis on Feb. 12th 2023, as part of the Transfer Project. The project is aimed at developing a professional training program for startup capabilities and entrepreneurship in Palestine and Tunisia.

The workshop was attended by a group of enthusiastic students who were interested in learning about the startup industry and entrepreneurship. The workshop was conducted by AQU team who presented the results of the questionnaire, highlighting the need for a wide range of skills within the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation that are relevant to both the Palestinian and Tunisian markets.

According to the results, some of the most typical technical skills needed in both markets are programming skills in PYTHON and Java, skills related to mobile platforms (Android and IOS), as well as advanced technologies (Security and Big Data). It was emphasized that the field of innovation and entrepreneurship requires not only technical skills, but also business and soft skills.

The workshop provided students with valuable insights into the ICT industry and entrepreneurship. Students were able to learn about the market needs in Palestine and Tunisia and how they can develop their entrepreneurial skills to meet these needs.

The workshop was really informative, and I learned a lot about the startup industry in Palestine and Tunisia. The report was very knowledgeable and provided valuable insights into the market needs. I am now more motivated than ever to develop my entrepreneurial skills and contribute to the growth of the startup industry in Palestine.

The project is expected to benefit students by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop successful startups.

The E-Startup Academy project is a multi-dimensional collaboration between consortium partners from Palestine, Tunisia and EU aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, innovation and startup capabilities through the development of a professional training program that meets the needs of the industry and the market in Palestine and Tunisia. [Sousse, Tunisia] – January 20th, 2023 – The TRANSFER project reached another milestone with the successful conclusion of its 3rd Face 2 Face Meeting held at Sousse University from January 18th to January 20th, 2023. Esteemed representatives from partner countries gathered to promote entrepreneurship education and collaboration within the project.

The meeting commenced on Wednesday, January 18th, with a warm welcome and introductions. Sousse University and project partners delivered inspiring welcome messages, setting the tone for productive discussions throughout the event.

Over the course of three days, participants engaged in a series of sessions aimed at advancing entrepreneurship education and fostering knowledge exchange. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including project progress, workshop program, module specifications, program learning outcomes, delivery approaches, assessment methods, equipment procurement, university enterprise partnership models, case study selection and development, dissemination planning, and project management.

The interactive sessions provided valuable opportunities for participants to share insights, collaborate, and address key aspects of the TRANSFER project. Through discussions and brainstorming, the team worked together to refine module specifications, design program learning outcomes, define delivery approaches, and plan for effective assessment methods.

Furthermore, the meeting focused on equipment procurement, ensuring the acquisition of necessary resources for the innovation technology lab. Participants also explored different university enterprise partnership models and exchanged best practices in this area.

Dissemination planning played a crucial role in the workshop, with discussions centered around maximizing the project’s impact in the coming months. Additionally, project management and financial aspects were addressed, including training on filling in financial and administrative sheets and presenting the progress in WP6.

The 3rd Face 2 Face TRANSFER Meeting at Sousse University served as a platform for meaningful discussions, collaboration, and the exchange of knowledge. The event showcased the dedication and commitment of all participants to advance entrepreneurship education and foster successful knowledge transfer.
